Making Space for Yourself: Simple Summer Rituals with Jewelry
I’ve noticed something funny about summer. Everyone talks about slowing down, but for moms, days somehow feel even busier. There’s this constant shuffle: camps, birthday parties, snack planning, work squeezed in between, random adventures, and not much actual reset. Over time, I’ve found a small ritual that helps me start the day feeling a little more like myself. It begins with my jewelry tray.
Here’s a secret. I know plenty of people who wear their jewelry 24/7. That’s the best part about fine jewelry - you can! But I like to switch mine out every morning. My Kala Ring is the exception; it’s basically a second skin. My Evil Eye pendant never comes off. Everything else changes with my mood or what the day holds. Some days, it’s a pair of bold gold hoops (Rani Hoops) that easily elevate any outfit and are so light I forget they’re there. Other days, it’s stacking our Eternity Bangles and a prototype necklace that hasn’t hit the website or socials yet because I’m still testing it out. Sometimes it’s ancestral jewelry that was gifted to me and now works as both inspiration and a kind of cultural comfort. Even I surprise myself sometimes.
These small self-care moments, standing in front of the mirror and choosing which fine jewelry to wear, are my summer reset. It’s not about waiting for a special occasion. It’s about reminding myself that I’m here too, in the middle of all the chaos. That’s why I design Goldstories pieces for the in-between: the errands, the afternoon walks, the last-minute ice cream run with the kids. Jewelry that helps you feel like yourself, even on the most regular days.
Reset looks like this. Slowing down doesn’t mean standing still. You’re still showing up, just a little softer, a little gentler, maybe even a little more you. Fine jewelry for the in-between moments, the ones we don’t always notice but that carry us through.
So if you’re caught up in the summer shuffle, maybe try a little ritual. Pick a piece that feels right for you today. For me, it’s five quiet minutes at my jewelry tray, swapping out yesterday’s pieces and picking something that matches my mood or surprises me. It’s a small act, but it helps me start the day as myself, not just as “mom” or “founder.”
Do you have a summer ritual, big or small, that helps you reset? I’d love to hear about it. Hit reply or share in the comments. Sometimes, it’s the little things that carry us through.
With love,
Subikksha
